This website’s sole purpose is to help the Weimaraners in need in the State of Florida.  The state has several people who work effortlessly in transporting, rescuing, caring for and fostering Weimaraners.

This website calls these wonderful people—Foster Care Agents.  Because Weimaraner rescue is a 24/7/365 job, it is too hard to keep a current list and pictures of Weimaraners available on-line.

This website will provide a current list of individuals fostering Weimaraners for you to contact.  Also, it will provide a standard Weimaraner Adoption Application that each Foster Care Agent will utilize.

You may choose to contact an individual Foster Care Agent or send a general email to all of them.  Someone should contact you within 72 hours.  If not, please feel free to call us at 1-888-FLA-WEIM or 1-888-352-9346.

Moonshine Platinum Jack & CH Moonshine at the London Opera

Weimaraners love water activities.  Florida has many dog beaches, dog parks, and natural trails.  Enjoy the outdoors with your Weimaraner!

One our favorite dog beaches is the Venice Dog Beach near Sharky’s restaurant.

Jack, 8 yrs old, is just as active as Andre, 4 yrs old!

Text Box: While many people think that having a younger dog is better, I personally feel that owning an older Weim is the best way to go. I adopted a 10 year old in 2005, and love him dearly. I have had him for 4 years now and each day with him is a surprise and a blessing.

Mission Statement:

To rescue and protect unwanted Weimaraners by providing training and rehabilitation so they may be ultimately placed into forever homes.  To promote and protect the Weimaraner breed by encouraging responsible dog ownership through education and community outreach.

Vision Statement:

Our vision is to promote and preserve the life of every Weimaraner in Florida, through owner education, community outreach and rescue.  We want every Weimaraner we rescue to have the best possible care and training to ensure that every Weimaraner leaving our rescue is healthy, happy and will make a great companion for a new owner.

Shadow—The Old Man!

Text Box: Sigmund—Turned 16 yrs old in August 2008. He was loved and cherished by Mike Silvia. Mike rescued him 13 1/2 years ago from Becky Weimer, WCA’s Weimaraner Rescue Coordinator. He crossed the rainbow bridge in January 2009.
We will miss you Sigmund!

How did it all get started?

I got my first show Weim—CH Moonshine’s Oscar Meyer in 1998 from Marlene Judd in Palatka, FL.  She was a Weim breeder, an active member in the Weim clubs and was very active in rescue.  She showed me what the Weim World was all about.  I saw a need for a central database to help out the Weim rescue efforts in the state.

I started the www.flweimrescue.com website in 1999 to help the Weimaraner clubs in Florida have a common database for Weims in need of fostering, new homes and transportation.  Also, it was a place where people interested in owning a Weimaraner could gather information, send in an application to adopt or to volunteer.

In 2005, I realized that the local Weim clubs could not handle the rescue efforts in the state and that a legitimate corporation was needed.  Most shelters require a 501c3 corporation to pull from their shelter.  We were having to partner with different groups around the state in order to save our Gray Ghosts.  In 2006, Florida Weimaraner Rescue, Inc., a not for profit Florida Corporation was formed and we applied for our 501c3 status in 2007.  We received our 501c3 status in September of 2008.

I hope that this company will help defray the financial burden that so many of our Foster Care Agents around the state face when rescuing our Gray Ghosts.  Our dream is to build a low cost spay/neuter clinic facility open to the public that could house all the rescued Weims in the state with a full time staff of employees to care for our beloved Gray Ghosts.  We want it to be a home environment where they get to interact with a family’s daily routine.  We love the Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary and Hospital in Jupiter and hope to achieve what they have in the near future.  To help us, please donate.
